Caring for your child’s teeth

Here at Gentle Dental Care Liverpool, we know the best way to care for your child’s teeth. It is important to get them into a regular dental routine, ensuring future visits to your dentist are kept at a minimum.

You can begin by gently brushing your baby’s gums with a soft toothbrush and once their first milk tooth has appeared, you can begin brushing with a fluoride toothpaste. You should be brushing your child’s teeth for about two minutes, twice a day. Encourage them to rinse well and not to swallow the toothpaste.

Once your child reaches about 7 or 8 years old, they should be able to brush their own teeth effectively, but it’s always a great idea to monitor their dental care to make sure they’re reaching every tooth.

Your child should have regular visits with the dentist, one visit before the age of two is advisable. Try to make a trip to the dentist as positive as possible and hopefully they won’t develop a fear of having their teeth checked in the future.

The team at GDC Liverpool are fully trained and can help relax you and your child before any dental treatment, making your trips as care free as possible.
