Old age remedies for toothache

Following on from our previous post about toothache and ways to help treat the problem, we got curious about how toothache was treated before the times of regular dental check ups and regular teeth cleaning!

A little bit of a Google search and we’ve come across some pretty strange ideas, of which we wouldn’t recommend!

One remedy was to create a mixture of watercress and white wine, which was them to be rubbed into teeth and gums.

Another suggests mixing cayenne pepper and water and then applying it to the tooth.

Some more conventional ideas include using a warm tea bag on the tooth, or chewing some peppermint leaves.

We would always suggest visiting your dentist regularly along with taking great care of your oral health, definitely more favourable than these home remedies!
