As part of National Smile Month, the British Dental Health Foundation have conducted a survey to discover our early brushing habits, asking the question ‘Who taught you to brush your teeth?’
The results overwhelmingly showed that mum knows best, with 68% of those asked saying that their mum taught them in their early years to look after their oral health. Dads came up second with just 5% of the vote.
They also asked at what age children were taught to brush their own teeth, with 45% of children being taught before the age of 2. Of those surveyed, 23% said they taught their children between the age of 2 and 5.
